Help with Point: UCDP

Being able to submit your appraisals electronically to Fannie and Freddie is such a tremendous benefit to being current with your Point software.  The Uniform Collateral Data Portal (UCDP) functionality can be found in your borrower file under Interfaces.

But if you want to increase the convenience factor, you’ll want to set up your preferences ahead of time so you’re not re-entering data on every appraisal you submit.  It’s quick and easy.

All you need to do is make sure you have your UCDP login by calling 800-917-9291 or visiting  Then just open Point and complete the following steps:

  1. From the menu bar, select Utilities > Uniform Collateral Data Portal Setup…
  2. From the Uniform Collateral Data Portal dialog box, enter your Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac Seller number.
  3. Enter the Business Unit #, User ID, and Password.
  4. Click OK.

Help with Point: Updating Point to include Loan Prospector

It’s not every day we include a file download with our how-to articles, but this one is an exception.  The Loan Prospector Underwriting System is not included in Point’s ULDD export for Fannie Mae.

If you want to include it, you must download a special .xml file to update Point.  The file and detailed instructions can be found on our Knowledge Base.

Calyx Network September Update

This month’s update to the Calyx Network does not include any vendor additions. However, if you are on Point 7.6, you will automatically receive updates to the following forms:

  1. The FHA Home Inspection (HUD-92564-CN) form. This update is just the expiration date as HUD just changed it on the form.
  2. The FHA Consumer Choice Notice Disclosure. This update added some missing text that should be in the “FHA Mortgage Insurance Premium Information” section at the bottom of the form.

Remember, you can only receive these instant updates if you are on the current version of Point because that is the version that contains the functionality for forms updates.   If you need to update your software, call your account representative at 800-362-2599.

Help with Point: What’s in your error message?

Sometimes when ordering document or services through integrated Point vendors, you may receive an error message.  These messages appear for any number of reasons and may or may not come with helpful descriptions.  But we’ve got the secret decoder ring!

Our Knowledge Base has a listing of error messages and their resolutions.  Whatever message you get, it’s in there, decoded and explained with screen shots just for you.

Help with Point: What’s printing on your TIL?

If your borrower is waiving escrow, estimated taxes and insurance payments do not need to appear on the Truth-in-Lending form.

However, Point 7.6 prints those two amounts on the TIL every time.  If your borrower has waived escrow, there is a simple work-around to keep taxes and insurance from printing on the TIL in those situations.

All you need to do is remove them from page 2 and enter them on the Fees Worksheet instead.

Help with Point: Data Folders

It’s a little late for spring cleaning but never too late to get organized!  Data folders in Point allow you to organize your files into categories that make finding files and reporting so much easier.

It all starts with Point Administrator.

  1.  Open Point Administrator by going to the desktop and selecting Start > Programs > Calyx Software > Point Administrator.
  2. In the Data Folders section, click Setup Data Folders.
  3. In the Data Folder Manager window, click Create New.
  4. In the New Folder Supervisor Password window, enter a password and click OK. The password will be used to manage the folder.
  5. Verify the password.  Note: The password is case–sensitive. Please write it down for future reference.
    In the Create New Data Folder window, click in field 1.
  6. Enter a location for the new folder, such as, C:Closed Loans. If you are creating the folder on a network location, enter the path where the folder where be created. (For example, \servernameProcessing or G:Archive 2005.)      NOTE: Do not create a new data folder inside of the Winpoint folder as the Winpoint folder may be removed when you uninstall or install a new version of Point.
  7. In field 2, enter the name of the data folder. The data folder name will be displayed within Point. (example: Closed Loans or Processing)
  8. If you want to restrict access to the folder using Point security, click Yes. If you do not want to restrict access, accept the No default. See Knowledge Base article 0476 if you are setting up security to access Point.   Select Yes for Available to users.
  9. Click OK. The new folder should appear in the Data Folder Manager window.
  10. Exit Point Administrator.

Help with Point: Networking Cardex and Templates

If you have encountered issues with accessing your templates or Cardex database, it’s a simple networking issue with your PNTTEMPL folder.   Networking the PNTTEMPL folder allows all computers to share reports, cardex, and other templates that are available under the Templates tab in the Navigation Panel.

We have detailed a two-step process you need to follow in order to network your PNTTEMPL folder and give users access to the appropriate templates and database.
