The January Interface Update took place yesterday, January 4. As a result, you’ll see changes to services within your Point® software.
BuildFax® gives you the ability to confidently say “yes” to more loans more often. Sign up before January 13th to receive a free 2-week trial and special introductory pricing to begin lowering your transactional risk! BuildFax’s building permit history reports offer that additional layer of documentation needed to increase loan quality and say “yes” to more loans, critical in this era of greater loan scrutiny and tighter standards. As the only automated source for national improvement data, BuildFax provides Calyx Point users with insight into property changes – permits for major additions and remodels not found in tax assessor data – that validate the valuation of a property and comps, or conversely, raise concerns if no major improvement permits exist for the property. More than 400 lenders already utilize BuildFax data in their loan approval process. GSEs acknowledge permitting data as a trusted source for independent, third party verification of property improvements and condition (see Freddie Mac’s Bulletin 2009-24). Find BuildFax under AVM Reports in the Services menu. Visit www.buildfax.com/calyx/gettingstarted for more information.
Remember, every month we add new service providers to our software. This enables you to have the tools you need to success right at your fingertips. Be on the lookout of our monthly blog about new Interfaces in Point!

I’m sure everybody loves the simplicity of doing fixed rate 15 or 30 year mortgages. But that’s not always the best solution for your customers. So you’ve got to give them the option of the dreaded adjustable rate mortgage and figure out their payments.
Too hard, you say? Not with Point, I say.
Point will accurately calculate the payment schedule for an ARM just as it will with fixed rate loans. You just have to know how to enter the data and we can help you with that.
Our technical gurus have put together simple guide for you that will walk you through the process.
If your eyes cross figuring out the printout, they’ve also created a helpful video that can uncross those baby blues in just a few minutes.
Process ARMs quickly and squeeze-free with technical support via the web or phone at 800-342-2599.

Point 7.3 carries on with our goal to make the mortgage loan process as effective and efficient as we possibly can. Taking all of your requests and comments from Point 7.2, we’ve developed 7.3 with banker features you want. Here are a few helpful new features.
- Synchronization is big player in this release because it makes things so much easier for you. If you use the banker screens in Point, you’ll definitely appreciate this new feature.
- The Track Conditions screen has been re-designed to synchronize with the Banker Conditions screen.
- Mortgage banks can now control which conditions the loan originator and loan processor can view by configuring the Utilities menu.
- This new feature will make it easy for the Underwriter to issue all external and internal conditions from the Banker screen and push only LO and Processor conditions to the Tracking screen.
- If you’re processing your own settlements, you’ll appreciate the new HUD1 screen. It’s simple to populate because it looks exactly like the form and you can populate fees on Page 2 with a copy feature from either the Fees Worksheet or the Fees & Impounds screen.
- The Profit/Loss screen has been redesigned to distinguish between brokered and banked loans with specific print-outs for each. This enhanced screen also allows accommodates split commissions and deductions.
- Saving you money with third party vendors is another happy ending for Point 7.3 banker screen updates.
- The Closing Docs interface has been enhanced with an audit feature that allows you to audit for missing information prior to drawing documents.
- You can refresh the dialog box as you correct each error to verify that you are ready to submit your order!
For more information on these or other banker screen improvements, visit our Point product page or call 800-362-2599.

Today California’s AB 1160 goes into effect. This law requires mortgage lenders to provide a translated mortgage summary document to a borrower in the language in which the contract was negotiated verbally. The five languages specified in the bill include Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
Although this law affects only a small portion of our customers, Calyx has developed a special forms update for Point 7.2 customers to download. This download will ONLY work for Version 7.2.
Once the download is complete, Point will update the forms list with the new disclosures in the required languages. Although these new disclosures have similar language and a similar look to the GFE, they are NOT GFEs. They can only be used in California and must be used in conjunction with other initial disclosures including the GFE.
Click here for more details on Assembly Bill 1160.
Point 7.2 customers may click here for more information or here to begin downloading the forms updater.
Customers on earlier versions of Point must update their software in order to be compliant with this and other recent regulatory changes. Call 800-362-2599 to speak to your account specialist.
Point 7.3, which will be released on October 28, includes a set of these new forms which will overwrite the forms downloaded in this 7.2 service pack. No further action will be required with the 7.3 installation.
