Help with Point: MyCalyx and IE9

February 23, 2012

BJ Bounds

We all want the latest and greatest software, right?  It’s no different when it comes to Internet Explorer.   The last release is out and it’s all the rage.  Not everybody can download it, though, because it doesn’t work the older operating systems (i.e. XP).

If you’re using Microsoft Vista or 7, this article is for you.

MyCalyx and IE9 don’t always get along.  So if the MyCalyx prerequisite check page loops after restarting the computer, you’ll know instantly that your initial compatibility setting in Internet Explorer needs attention.

It’s an easy fix.

  1. Close all web pages
  2. Click the Install Point link from the installation e-mail that you have received.
  3. From the Prerequisite page, click the compatibility icon on the menu bar. (The compatibility icon is the page break icon that is to the right of the address bar).
  4.  Close the web pages and click Install Point from your MyCalyx installation e-mail.

That’s all it should take!  If you’d like screen shots or additional details or alternatives, visit the Knowledge Base article #0353.

Today’s GFE topic deals with the month field.  If your “First Change Can Occur In” field is not populating, there are a couple of things you might be missing in your forms.

  1. Make sure the “Can the interest rate rise?” checkbox checked on the GFE
  2. Make sure the “First Change” field is filled out under the Adjustable Rate Mortgage section of the TIL
  3. You must click the “Calculate” button at the bottom of the GFE window.

That’s the simple fix for today’s topic.  If you’d like help with this or other GFE topics, visit our Knowledge Base.

Help with Point: PDF files

January 17, 2012

BJ Bounds

PDF may be the greatest invention since sliced bread.  It’s so universal and it certainly comes in handy when sending documents that you do not want edited and that everyone else can easily open.

Most of the time…Every once in awhile, you may receive a PDF file that contains a “portfolio” feature that does not conform to standard PDF specifications or it includes graphics that are not support by Point’s viewer.

If that happens, there is an easy fix that allows you to still store the document in your document management system and view it outside of Point.

Here is what you do:

  1.  Open the document management system
  2. Highlight the PDF file that Point cannot display
  3. Click the View button to view the file using Adobe
  4. OR click the Save As button to save the file on your desktop before opening it with Adobe

For additional details or screen shots on this or other questions, visit the Knowledge Base or Support site at any time of the day or night.

If you’d like to speak to one of our support team members during our normal business hours, please call 800-342-2599.  As a reminder, your account must be on the latest version of Point take advantage of free personal phone/email/chat support.

Feeling the squeeze of your ARMs ?

December 21, 2011

BJ Bounds

I’m sure everybody loves the simplicity of doing fixed rate 15 or 30 year mortgages.  But that’s not always the best solution for your customers.  So you’ve got to give them the option of the dreaded adjustable rate mortgage and figure out their payments.

Too hard, you say?  Not with Point, I say.

Point will accurately calculate the payment schedule for an ARM just as it will with fixed rate loans.  You just have to know how to enter the data and we can help you with that.

Our technical gurus have put together simple guide for you that will walk you through the process.

If your eyes cross figuring out the printout, they’ve also created a helpful video that can uncross those baby blues in just a few minutes.

Process ARMs quickly and squeeze-free with technical support via the web or phone at 800-342-2599.

Help with Point: Point Privileges

December 13, 2011

BJ Bounds

MyCalyx.com has made updating your Point software quick and easy without the time consuming CD shipping and sharing.  But we’ve heard from some of you that you don’t always have “authorization” to begin the installation.  This is a simple fix that involves your Windows registry.

If you receive the message “You do not have sufficient privileges to modify the registry,” you have a couple of options but you’ll need administrative access or you’ll have to get help from your administrator.

  •  Windows:  requires Administrator login information
    1. Close all programs
    2. Logoff of the computer
    3. When the Windows login screen appears, log in as the Administrator
    4. Access the installation e-email and install Point
  • MyCalyx:  your MyCalyx administrator can create an installation setting on MyCalyx.com which will initiate the installation with administrator credentials.

Either way, you’ll be on your way to a successful Point installation in no time!
