Have you ever been working in the Secondary Marketing screen and realized that both the Lock Confirmed and the Lock Requested checkboxes are grayed out, thus preventing you from selecting either of them?
You’re not alone. This will happen if the Point file has been copied from an older file created in an earlier version of Point.
You can fix it by creating and importing a template into the affected loan file. Knowledge Base article #751 has complete step-by-step instructions that will get you where you need to be with your file without starting over.
You can always visit our Knowledge Base 24 hours a day for instructions and helpful hints for many of your questions and concerns about your Calyx software.

PDF may be the greatest invention since sliced bread. It’s so universal and it certainly comes in handy when sending documents that you do not want edited and that everyone else can easily open.
Most of the time…Every once in awhile, you may receive a PDF file that contains a “portfolio” feature that does not conform to standard PDF specifications or it includes graphics that are not support by Point’s viewer.
If that happens, there is an easy fix that allows you to still store the document in your document management system and view it outside of Point.
Here is what you do:
Open the document management system
Highlight the PDF file that Point cannot display
Click the View button to view the file using Adobe
OR click the Save As button to save the file on your desktop before opening it with Adobe

The January Interface Update took place yesterday, January 4. As a result, you’ll see changes to services within your Point® software.
BuildFax® gives you the ability to confidently say “yes” to more loans more often. Sign up before January 13th to receive a free 2-week trial and special introductory pricing to begin lowering your transactional risk! BuildFax’s building permit history reports offer that additional layer of documentation needed to increase loan quality and say “yes” to more loans, critical in this era of greater loan scrutiny and tighter standards. As the only automated source for national improvement data, BuildFax provides Calyx Point users with insight into property changes – permits for major additions and remodels not found in tax assessor data – that validate the valuation of a property and comps, or conversely, raise concerns if no major improvement permits exist for the property. More than 400 lenders already utilize BuildFax data in their loan approval process. GSEs acknowledge permitting data as a trusted source for independent, third party verification of property improvements and condition (see Freddie Mac’s Bulletin 2009-24). Find BuildFax under AVM Reports in the Services menu. Visit www.buildfax.com/calyx/gettingstarted for more information.
Remember, every month we add new service providers to our software. This enables you to have the tools you need to success right at your fingertips. Be on the lookout of our monthly blog about new Interfaces in Point!
It’s a brand new year—time for new beginnings and new hope. I’m hopeful that 2012 will prove to be a much better year for our industry than 2011.
We have an impressive year planned at Calyx so this month marks the beginning of some exciting times for us. If you were at our user conference last year, you have already been introduced to some of the new things coming out soon.
This year we are planning new releases of Point and PointCentral, mobile applications, Calyx AUS, Calyx Pricer, and our newest LOS, Path.
We look forward to tackling 2012 head on and barreling through any new regulations and modifications they throw at us. Join us and we’ll make it to 2013 together.
2011 is just about over…and now we have a whole new year to plan!
It’s exciting to think about every January as a “do-over.” This is the opportunity to do all the things you wanted to do last year but didn’t quite get around to doing them. It’s a time to plan goals, vacations, and house repairs.
If you make New Year’s resolutions, of course this is the weekend to make them. I always just have plans and goals throughout the year so promising myself something in January just doesn’t fit my structure.
But some traditions I do uphold. I make sure to have my black-eyed peas on January 1. Now I realize that black-eyed peas are not traditional all over the United States. I found out last year it must just be a regional thing. So it does make me curious as to the must-have/must-do traditions for you.
If black-eyed peas aren’t the “good luck food” for your area, what is?
A holiday by any other name is still as festive. This Sunday is Christmas Day. I love this time of year not only for the cold invigorating weather, or the colorful decorations, but also it’s the season of giving, or gifting.
But I’m not talking about giving of your time or your money during the holiday season through volunteer work or gracious donations to organizations that help the less fortunate—I’m talking about the art of re-gifting.
Re-gifting is a fact of life. There is always that one friend or relative that has a knack for selecting the perfect re-giftable gift. You know— that thing nobody really wants but could possibly have value to somebody else? The fruitcake in the tin; the drugstore cologne; the “spa” gift set; the $10 Christmas blanket; the banana protector; or the totally ingenious coffee mug that plugs into your car’s 12V charger.
Personally I’m not good enough at re-gifting to attempt it very often. It takes killer organizational skills or a really good memory to pull off a successful re-gift operation without the original giver finding out—or receiving it back the next year.
But I’m sure there are quite a few experts out there. Let’s hear your stories of re-gifting.
Have a little fun this afternoon and take our short “re-gifting” poll.
I’m sure everybody loves the simplicity of doing fixed rate 15 or 30 year mortgages. But that’s not always the best solution for your customers. So you’ve got to give them the option of the dreaded adjustable rate mortgage and figure out their payments.
Too hard, you say? Not with Point, I say.
Point will accurately calculate the payment schedule for an ARM just as it will with fixed rate loans. You just have to know how to enter the data and we can help you with that.
Our technical gurus have put together simple guide for you that will walk you through the process.
If your eyes cross figuring out the printout, they’ve also created a helpful video that can uncross those baby blues in just a few minutes.
Process ARMs quickly and squeeze-free with technical support via the web or phone at 800-342-2599.
